This interactive and practical class is for Professional Collision Repair Technicians who are looking to upgrade their knowledge and skills. Upon completion, the technician will understand the concepts and of basic electricity, and the operation of electrically operated automotive systems.

LEVEL 2 (3 DAYS)

Electric Vehicle Safety Certificate

Course objective

  • Technicians will learn to Identify and describe the main components of different vehicle types: hybrid, plug-in hybrid, electric and fuel cell.
  • Technicians will learn the theory and operation of these systems used in current makes and models.
  • Locate the high voltage components of each system and explain their role.
  • Recognize the potential dangers of high voltage, high voltage components, and damaged components.
  • Main Disconnects and safe-down of high voltage systems.
  • Master the DVOM functions used to diagnose the different electrical systems of EVs
  • Replace and initialize defective or damaged high voltage components
  • Fluid filling and bleeding (thermal management and brake systems)
  • Refrigeration system operation, diagnosis, repair, and charging
